Going into Sunday’s matchup with the Giants, New England had not lost a home game to an NFC opponent at home since 2002. Yes, 9 years since they had lost to an NFC at Gilette. Well this streak came to screaching hault sunday afternoon because of the heroics of Eli Manning late in the game. Where have we heard that before? A long Pats streak ending due to Eli. We all know the answer to that obviously and it appears as though this team could be in trouble. The offense still has Brady so they are fine. They do lack playmakers but the combo of Hernandez, Gronkowski, and Welker is enough for Brady to be productive. The defense is another issue in itself. It has become a miserable problem. They cannot be relied on at any point in the game as seen on sunday. Belichek is taking a lot of heat for the way he has handled his draft picks and rightly so. He needs to stay in the first round and draft play makers rather than trading out and trying to stock pile depth. It has not worked and they are paying for it now. If this does not get corrected quickly the Patriots might struggle to make the playoffs this season.
